KAMLOOPS —  Kamloops's Madison Olds has made it into the top 20 in a competition to score a recording deal for aspiring musicians.

The local singer and songwriter who released her first album 'Blue' in February is currently in the running to win a record deal valued at $15,000 with ReAmp Studios with her single, Thank You.

Olds is an indie folk singer originally from the Tournament Capital. Some of her awards include the 2017 Emerging Artist of the Year award with the City of Kamloops and the 2019 CBC Searchlight Top 10. Olds and her band, Bees and the Bare Bones, opened and shared the stage for country music stars Kacey Lee Musgraves and Willie Nelson at the Rockin' River Fest in Merritt in 2017, according to a post on the singer's website.

Olds is one of 20 contestants vying for a chance to win a record deal with ReAmp Studios. Contestants move forward to the next round through a voting system. The top five contestants with the highest votes will move to the final stage where they will be flown to ReAmp Studios in California.

"A live recording session will occur where the finalists will be recording music while on video. Then the finalists will all perform on stage during a showcase event and a winner will be announced live," a post on ReAmp's website says.
