CHERRY CREEK — Two people were sent to hospital after a collision on Highway 1 and Rodeo Drive near Cherry Creek today, August 26.
Aird says three cars travelling in the fast lane were involved in the collision. The first, a blue Honda signalled to turn left. The second car in the chain made a last minute signal to move into the slow-lane which caused the third car - a silver Honda - to rear-end the blue Honda.
"The second car directly behind the blue Honda noted the driver’s intentions and changed lanes to the slow lane but the third car, a silver Honda, could not see the signal in time to take evasive actions and ran into the back of the blue Honda,” Aird says.
Two people in the blue Honda went to hospital along with the driver of the silver car. There were no life threatening injuries, Aird says.
Aird added the incident did not close the highway, but traffic alternated for around 45 minutes.
In another accident near Sun Peaks, a woman crashed into a dirt bank and flipped her vehicle on Sun Peaks Road around 2:50 p.m. today, Aug. 26. The community fire department had to remove her door to release her. Aird says the woman alleges an animal jumped in front of her vehicle which caused her to swerve. Aird says she was transported to Royal Inland Hospital for neck and back injuries. Traffic was affected for 45 minutes.
