Kamloops' rink heading to Calgary for the Scotties

Kamloops will be represented at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Calgary next month by Team Corryn Brown.

Two teams qualified for the tournament as the highest ranking teams on the Canadian Team Ranking System that didn’t win the respective championships.

The Kamloops rink and Kate Cameron's crew from Winnipeg have qualified, according to a press release from Curling Canada today, Jan. 29.

The pools for the tournament were announced over the weekend.

Team Brown. which includes Corryn Brown, Erin Pincott, Jenn Armstrong, Sam Fishe and coach Jim Cotter, will be competing in Pool A. 

The Kamloops rink is up against some strong competition in Pool A, includingKerri Einarson's rink out of Gimli, Manitoba. They're going for their fifth consecutive championship this year after winning the Scotties in Kamloops last year.

“Teams will play a complete eight-game round robin within their pools. From there, the top three teams in each pool advance to the playoffs,” the release said.

The Scotties take place between Feb. 16 and Feb. 25 in Calgary.

Brown's first game is against Northern Ontario’s Krista McCarville at 6 p.m. on Feb. 16.

The championship match is on Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. and the winner will go on to represent Canada at the 2024 BKT Tires World Women’s Curling Championship in Sydney, Nova Scotia in March.
