The CEO of Accent Inns is thanking the community for making donations so the motels can offer essential healthcare workers a discounted rate.

In a Facebook message posted by CEO Mandy Farmer, she said Accent Inns is helping out healthcare workers who are concerned about exposing their families to COVID-19 as they continue to work on the frontlines of the pandemic.

“Earlier this week we learned that nurses were sleeping in their cars in order to protect their families from the virus. This broke our hearts so we decided to put together a rock bottom rate (for caregivers,)” Farmer said in the video.

Since then, community members have offered to pay for caregiver rooms, she said in the Facebook video.

“We are completely inspired by this outpouring of love," she said.

According to Accent Inns, community members, such as friends, family or those interested in donating, need to inquire first about paying the $59 rate for healthcare workers, before the workers can receive a room completely free.

Accent Inns has locations in Kelowna and Kamloops.

If you are looking for a room, or would like to donate, call 1-800-663-0298.
