Kamloops RCMP raided a gun manufacturer in Chase last week and showed off the spoils Thursday.
Detachment commander Supt. Jeff Pelley stood in front of drill presses, metal lathes, 3D printers and numerous weapons seized during the search of a home on 3 Avenue in Chase on April 22.
The home was being used to make untraceable guns, some were 3D printed, others had serial numbers removed and some used lower receivers from pellet guns.

“Explosives, guns, body armour, and equipment for illegally manufacturing firearms were seized during the investigation led by the Kamloops RCMP Detachment’s Targeted Enforcement Unit (TEU),” Pelley said in a media release issued, May 1.
“It’s important to note that our investigators are still processing exhibits and this is a sample of what was seized during this one particular investigation.”
The weapons investigation was linked to some of the violent crime in Kamloops, he said.
“We have seen in our community the acquirement of firearms being used in public offences. Firearms entering communities is a concern. Targeting those who manufacture, distribute, and use them, including those involved in drug trafficking, remains a detachment priority and we look forward to more results in the future,” Pelley said.
Last year, Kamloops RCMP identified two people who were connected to the organized drug trade and violent crime in the city in a public interest disclosure. Pelley said that investigation was also linked with the weapons manufacturing centre in Chase.
“We take pride in knowing that our efforts contribute to a stronger, safer environment for everyone," Sgt. Kevin McIntyre with the Targeted Enforcement Unit said in the release. "Our commitment to enforcement strategies aimed at disrupting criminal activity and addressing local drug trafficking groups extends beyond this project.

"We encourage individuals involved in such activities to seek positive alternatives that offer a path forward without resorting to violence. Support and resources are available for those who want to make a change, and we urge them to contact our team and take advantage of these opportunities."
There have also been some investigations in rural Kamloops like the case where partial human remains were found and the homicide investigation in the Paul Lake area. Pelley said those incidents are separate and unrelated to this case.
“Nothing obvious has been revealed suggesting a relation to our investigation at this point, but we are constantly assessing any nexus and continue to support efforts with a collaborative approach,” Pelley said.
“Recent occurrences of violence have also been targeted, as opposed to the public shootings we witnessed prior to issuing the public interest disclosure last year.”
The RCMP expects to recommend charges in this case.
