Police have seized money, drugs and weapons in three separate instances in Kamloops this month.

Following a tip from a citizen, at around 10 a.m. July 16, Kamloops RCMP were directed to the 200 block of Tranquille Road where people were reported coming and going from a vehicle and believed to be purchasing drugs, according to an RCMP media release.

Police located the vehicle and searched the occupants, seizing 177 grams of suspected fentanyl, an air pistol, an electric baton and close to $25,000 in cash.

Later that day, RCMP executed a drug related search warrant at a residence on the North Shore and seized a large amount of suspected fentanyl, two firearms and approximately $5,000 in cash.

A vehicle was seized by police in both instances.

In the third incident, Kamloops RCMP investigated a single-vehicle collision on Hillside Dr. at Pacific Way. Police seized 93 grams of suspected cocaine and money from the vehicle at approximately 3 a.m. July 17.

“All in all, we believed that all these drugs seizures represent approximately $70,000 worth street value,” Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Mathias Van Laer said in the release.

“We don’t need to remind anyone in Kamloops about the opioid crisis that has affected us all, or the drug related violence that we observed in recent years. Seizing this amount of drugs, money and dangerous weapons is nothing short than outstanding work from our members, helping keeping the community safe”

Police will not say if these incidents are related, and investigations are ongoing. A number of individuals have been identified in all three incidents.

Criminal charges are expected to be forwarded to the B.C. Crown counsel for assessment.
