A human bone that was discovered by a dog walker in Kamloops belongs to a 22-year-old man who was reported missing two months ago.

Police are now looking for more information on David Bosanac’s last movements, Kamloops RCMP stated in a media release issued today May 18.

Bosanac, who was from Kamloops, had not been heard from in several weeks when he was reported missing on March 18. The bone was found on March 26 near the Kamloops airport.

“Since the initial discovery, police were able to obtain DNA to compare to the found bone, and can now confirm that it did indeed belong to Mr. Bosanac and that he is deceased,” Kamloops RCMP media relations officer Const. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

“Because the cause of Mr. Bosanac’s death is still unknown, police are not releasing what specific bone was discovered.”

RCMP Human Remains Detection dogs have recently begun searching the area where the bone was found. The same location has been undergoing searches by the Police Dog Services Unit and Search and Rescue crews since the day of the discovery, RCMP say.

Police say Bosanac was last heard from on Feb. 25 and are asking anybody who was in contact with him around that time to contact them at 250-828-3000 and reference number 2022-8707.

“At this time, the circumstances surrounding Mr. Bosanac’s death are still unknown and we’re hoping the public may have information that can help police better determine a timeline on his final days, providing some clues as to what happened,” Const. Evelyn said.
