Human bone found on Kamloops walking trail

FILE PHOTO

Police were called to a North Shore walking trail this weekend, where a person and their dog discovered a human bone near the Kamloops airport.

Kamloops RCMP did not say what type of bone was found, but a B.C. Coroner's Service anthropologist later confirmed the bone was human, according to a news release.

“The investigation into who the bone belonged to and the circumstances surrounding its discovery is ongoing and will be done in consult with the B.C. Coroners Service," Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

Kamloops RCMP arrived at the trail around 5:20 p.m., March 26, but officers returned to the area the next day to search the area for more evidence.

According to the release, nothing significant was found after the Sunday search.

Kamloops RCMP is asking anyone with information about the investigation, or has come across bones in the area, to contact the detachment.
