UPDATE: No explosive device found in downtown Kamloops

Original Publication Date January 04, 2019 - 9:11 AM

KAMLOOPS - Kamloops RCMP have reopened parts of downtown after no suspicious packages or explosive devices were found at the library.

Police responded to a call at 8:15 a.m. today, Jan. 4, about a possible explosive device at the Kamloops Library at 465 Victoria St., according to an RCMP media release.

Multiple officers responded to the area and nearby businesses were evacuated until the area was given the all clear by police. With the help of an explosion detection police dog, officers searched the library and immediate area and did not find any suspicious package.

The downtown core has been reopened and police have not laid any charges at this point.

The investigation is still ongoing.
