Police are looking for a man believed to be related to a stolen truck that rammed an RCMP cruiser.

Kamloops RCMP say the man is a "person of interest" in the investigation, which began in October, but did not call him a suspect.

“As part of the ongoing investigation, police obtained surveillance video featuring a person of interest,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson, said in a news release issued today, Dec. 1.

A driver in a stolen truck rammed into a police cruiser on the Tk'emlups reserve on Oct. 27 as an officer recognized it as stolen.

The Tk'emlups rural detachment officer spotted the black Ford truck near Paul Lake Road and Cold Creek Road around 12:08 p.m., when the driver rammed the officer's cruiser and fled the area, according to the news release.

The truck was later recovered near Paul Lake Road and Harper Mountain Road, but it was abandoned and police didn't find any suspects.

“We are releasing an image from the surveillance in hopes of furthering the investigation by having the person identified," Cpl. Evelyn said in the news release.

Police didn't say where the surveillance footage was retrieved.

Anyone who recognizes the person in the image, or has information related to this investigation can contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-38627.
