Kamloops RCMP have questions for motorist who offered two children a ride

Police have some questions for a Kamloops driver who offered two children a ride yesterday.

The two girls were walking on Linfield Drive at 6:45 p.m. yesterday, June 22, when a four-door, white car with non-tinted windows stopped nearby, according to an RCMP press release.

The driver, described by RCMP as a non-white man in his early twenties with short hair, asked the girls if they wanted a ride. The girls immediately left the area and went home.

“It is unknown what the intent of the driver was, but this is a good time for parents to discuss stranger danger with their children,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie said in the release.

“Tell your children that if they feel something is suspicious, they should say no, leave the area, go home (or to a safe place) and tell an adult what happened. In this situation, these children did exactly the right thing.”

Kamloops RCMP are asking the driver, or anyone who knows who the driver was, to contact police.
