Kamloops RCMP continue search for man who disappeared in Thompson River

A man disappeared in the Thompson River in Kamloops last week and police are still searching for him. RCMP are also asking the public for help to identify him.

RCMP say around 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 28, a man in a blue jacket was seen entering the river where he bobbed up and down before submerging entirely. Witnesses did not see the man return to the surface.

Emergency crews including RCMP Air Services, police dogs, the dive team and Kamloops Search and Rescue volunteers have conducted multiple searches, but have yet to locate him, according to an RCMP press release.

The RCMP dive team is set to resume their search tomorrow, Feb. 2.

The missing person is described as a Caucasian man in his mid-30s. He was wearing a blue jacket with its hood up. It's possible that he had a baseball cap on underneath the hood.

Anyone who may know who the man is or who witnessed what happened, is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP Rural Detachment at 250-314-8000.
