Kamloops RCMP had a busy weekend, responding to 339 service calls from Friday night to Monday morning.

RCMP say at around 4:30 a.m. today, Jan. 18, police received reports of a man with a firearm on Victoria Street.

Officers arrived on the scene and located a man fitting the description, then seized a firearm nearby, according to an RCMP media release. The man was taken into custody and was also found to have a warrant for theft under $5,000.

On Saturday, Jan. 16, at around 1:30 p.m., RCMP responded to a call on the North Shore reporting a domestic assault and theft, with firearms at the home. Police say the lone occupant of the residence "denied any assault and invited police in to look for firearms."

Police found a loaded sawed-off shotgun, a pellet gun and ammunition which were seized for destruction. RCMP say the resident denied owning the weapons and they are currently investigating.

Later Saturday night while on patrol on Greenstone Drive, an officer came across a "suspicious" looking vehicle in the 400 block around 10:30 p.m. The silver Chevrolet Malibu had mismatched license plates and the ignition had been ripped from the dash.

Officers had the car towed at the request of the building manager where the vehicle was parked.
