Kamloops pub treats patrons for making the right choice

KAMLOOPS - Management at a local pub is taking a stand against impaired driving by providing gift certificates to those who make smart choices after too many drinks.

Duffy’s Pub is the talk of the town after a customer posted a picture of the letter left with his car, which was left at the pub overnight.

“I hope you had a great experience last night and I want to thank you for leaving your vehicle here and chose a safer way of getting home," the letter reads, along with a $25 gift certificate.

Manager Nala Keane says the certificate is a small effort on the pub’s part to combat drinking and driving.

“It just encourages people to leave their cars and be safe,” he says. “We’ve been doing it for years."

Keane says each vehicle left for a safer ride home receives a $5 certificate, but every now and again the pub will hand out $25 as part of a lottery.
