KAMLOOPS - In April, dozens of locals lined up in the hopes of getting cast as an extra in Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, which was filming nearby, and this week the movie finally hits theatres.
The latest instalment of Night at the Museum, starring Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson and Robin Williams, filmed at a location between Kamloops and Cache Creek for a few days in May. The area was considered an ideal backdrop for an Egyptian scene and locals were hired to fill in as extras.
The series focuses on life at the museum when the sun goes down with characters coming alive and interacting with Stiller’s security guard character. The movie also filmed in London, England and Vancouver.
The movie will first be released on Wednesday in Egypt and will be in the United States on Friday. The Cineplex Odeon Theatre at Aberdeen Mall only lists showtimes for the week and does not have any showtimes listed for the movie just yet.
