Kamloops musicians banding together to help wildfire victims

BCLC's Midsummer Music Jam is among the upcoming fundraising concerts taking place in Kamloops.

KAMLOOPS - As firefighters, health professionals and volunteers do what they can to ease the burden the B.C. wildfires have put on evacuees, musicians in Kamloops have been planning some concerts that either offer free admission to evacuees, or plan to contribute some of their proceeds to those in need.

Here are some of the upcoming events in Kamloops:

Kamloops Interior Summer School of Music Showcase Concert

The entertainment starts tonight, July 25, with the KISSM showcase concert.

It will be a 7:00 p.m. show at the Sagebrush Theatre and all wildfire evacuees will be granted free admission. Regular tickets are $12.50 for adults and $3.50 for kids.

The music school students aged 10 to 18 will be performing a wide variety of music styles with performances from the youth and senior concert bands, jazz bands, choirs, and percussion groups, as well as the world drums class and the KISSM drum line.

BCLC Sponsoring Music In the Park

Tomorrow, July 26, sees the B.C. Lottery Corporation sponsored Midsummer Music Jam taking place during Music In the Park at Riverside Park.

The festivities will get underway at 5:00 p.m. when the 11 food trucks will open their doors. Meals are free for all wildfire evacuees though you will need to show identification to receive a food voucher at the BCLC tent.

The entertainment will get underway at 7:00 p.m. with music from country artists The Road Hammers and Daylen James.

Those attending the event are also asked to donate personal hygiene products and non-perishable food items to go to wildfire evacuees.

Music at The Blue Grotto

Next Friday, Aug. 4 and Saturday, Aug. 5 there will be back to back nights of music and fundraising for wildfire evacuees.

There will be three bands each night at the Blue Grotto with the music starting at 9:00 p.m. Tickets are $5.00 each with wildfire evacuees getting in free.

All of the proceeds from the ticket sales will be going to the Red Cross.

The bands performing on Friday, Aug. 4, will be Chapter 9, Keep 6 and Lunafix. Playing Saturday, Aug. 5 will be Alset, Shattered Blue, and Lunafix.
