Kamloops man wanted in Valentine’s Day kidnapping, robbery

Police in Kamloops are asking for the public's assistance in locating Robert James Rennie who has been charged with assault causing bodily harm.

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a man connected to a kidnapping case last week.

Police say they are seeking Robert James Rennie who has been charged with assault causing bodily harm. On Feb. 14, two men were robbed and a woman was kidnapped in Kamloops.

“Through investigation, the Kamloops Serious Crimes Unit have identified suspects who are believed to have been involved in this crime,” Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in the release.

Rennie is from Kamloops and is believed to still be in the area. He is previously known to police and is known to be involved in the local drug trade.

He is described as Caucasian, 31 years old, 6’1” tall, 160 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes.

Earlier today, Feb. 20, police along with the Southeast District Emergency Response Team made an arrest Brandon Avenue. Michael James Mathieson, 36, has been charged with robbery, forcible confinement and firearm offences. 

Mathieson is from Kamloops and was previously known to police.
