Kamloops man shot in Valleyview in stable condition

A Kamloops man is in hospital after a shooting in Valleyview on Sunday.

On June 13, around 5:30 p.m., RCMP arrived at the 2100-block of East Trans Canada Highway where bystanders were giving first aid to a man who had been shot, according to a Kamloops RCMP press release.

The 9-1-1 caller reported the man had walked into a parking lot and collapsed, where bystanders attempted to help until first responders arrived and he could be taken to hospital.

According to police, the man is believed to be in stable condition.

Police dogs helped trace the shooting to a location near the South Thompson River, but the investigation is ongoing.

Kamloops RCMP are now seeking witnesses that may have witnessed any suspicious activity around the time of the shooting.
