A Kamloops man is facing seven charges related to weapons after police discovered he was in a stolen vehicle.
Kamloops RCMP officers were on patrol on Kokanee Way when they noticed a vehicle parked suspiciously with no front licence plate around 1:25 a.m. on May 9, according to a press release from police.
When police investigated the vehicle they confirmed it had been reported stolen.
“As part of the investigation, officers located weapons including a restricted firearm, ammunition, bear spray and a switchblade knife,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release. “A man and a woman were taken into custody and held for court – the woman for an unendorsed arrest warrant; the man for the new offences.”
Cameron Jewett, 21, has been charged with possession of stolen property, possessing weapons for a dangerous purpose, two counts of possession of a concealed weapon, possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, a concealed weapon, prohibited device or ammunition without a licence, a prohibited or restricted firearm without a licence or registration and a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm without a licence or registration, RCMP said.
Jewett was held for a bail hearing where he was remanded in custody until his next court date scheduled for May 14.
