Kamloops man arrested for same offence third time in a month

A Kamloops man was arrested today for a third time in a month for the same offence.

He was taken into custody this morning, Nov. 23, when Kamloops RCMP were called to a downtown alley where a person was threatening someone with a firearm.

Police were called at around 8:30 a.m. where the man had been asked to leave the alley near 2 Avenue and Lansdowne Street, according to a Kamloops RCMP news release.

"While police were investigating, they detained three people, one of which appeared to be reaching for a weapon and then ran,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

That man was Tyral Dane Lariviere, 37, who was wanted on a warrant for breaching recognizance.

He was found by police dogs hiding in a dumpster 3 Avenue and Lorne Street.

He wasn't the suspect in the initial threats complaint, but police held him in custody for court so he could answer for another breach.

On Oct. 23, he was arrested for the same endorsed warrant. Lariviere was given a court date of Oct. 27, but an arrest warrant was issued the next day when he breached his court conditions. That routine repeated itself two more times and the most recent was Nov. 18, with his arrest just five days later.

He's had a total of five warrants issued on the same court file since May 30.

On July 27, for example, he was arrested on the North Shore after a struggle. A civilian helped in the arrest and Lariviere was charged for resisting arrest.

That charge, however, was stayed on Sept. 7.

Kamloops RCMP are continuing to investigate the threat that Lariviere was not involved in.
