Kamloops, Kelowna DavidsTea will not be reopening

DavidsTea in Kelowna's Orchard Park Mall will not reopen. The Montreal-based company has closed 166 Canadian locations.

DavidsTea is closing 166 Canadian stores, including ones in Kamloops and Kelowna.

“We have made the difficult decision to close a total of 166 retail locations in Canada, and all 42 of our locations in the U.S. We will also be re-opening 18 locations across Canada. We are finalizing those details, so stay tuned for their opening dates,” according to the tea store’s recent announcement.

Only one location in B.C. will reopen, at Pacific Centre in Vancouver. The tea company had locations in Kelowna's Orchard Park Mall and the Kamloops Aberdeen Mall.

The Montreal-based company announced it is sending out lease termination notice to store locations and will shrink its network to 18 stores in Canada.

DavidsTea has already closed 82 other Canadian Stores and all of its U.S. locations at the start of July, now focusing on e-commerce business and supplying grocery stores and pharmacies.
