KAMLOOPS - Kamloops grandparents have won a major lottery prize just in time for the holiday season.
Rodney Plesko matched all seven numbers on his ticket to snag the $1 million prize in the Lotto Max Maxmillions draw on Nov. 30. Plesko was shopping for food when he checked his ticket, according to a BC Lottery Corporation media release.
"I checked the ticket again, and then went to a different store to make sure it was real,” Plesko said in the release.
Plesko and his wife, Anne, said they don't have any big plans for the money right now, but they're considering spending more time camping with their RV.
"It happened so fast that it really hasn't sunk in yet," Plesko said.
Plesko purchased his winning ticket at the Orchard Park Shopping Plaza in Kelowna, making him one of 30 British Columbians to win a Lotto Max Maxmillions prize in 2018.
