As a child growing up in India, Krishna Lakkineni always dreamed of making it big one day.

He immigrated to Canada in 2008 with just a little over $2,000 in his pocket. He’s now a business owner of a digital marketing agency in Kamloops and a his new book The Golden Rules of Success has recently reached a best-selling rank under the sales and marketing category on Amazon.

Lakkineni was notified by his publisher last week there were only 10 copies of his book left after the launch four weeks ago.

His book touches on how to start a business successfully and addresses some of the struggles entrepreneurs face.

“Starting a business is not easy,” he says. “You need the contacts, the right networking, the right relationships and being new to Kamloops… I didn’t have any of that.”

Lakkineni touches on the steep learning curve many new business owners face when starting a business including the fear that can kick in for a lot of people.

“A lot of the times we think ‘Am I doing the right thing for me, how can I survive through this?’” he says. “There are lot sacrifices to be made… and I think having a bigger purpose will keep motivating and inspiring (people) and that often results in a better business.”

Lakkineni encourages anyone who wants to develop their life skills to give his book a read.

“If you don’t have the right mindset or personality you won’t be successful in a business so (this book) is pretty much for anyone who wants to do well in their life,” he says.

Lakkineni says he will be donating all proceeds from sales of the book to Entrepreneurs International Foundation and to the United Way and Kamloops Food Bank’s Starfish Backpacks program.
