A Kamloops restaurant is doing something a little different to protect their customers, and themselves, from COVID-19.
While wearing a mask is required for employees across all Earls locations, some staff at the Kamloops franchise are using plastic face shields instead.
"You don't realize how much you read lips, until someone is wearing a mask," said Earls General Manager Cody Rose.
"Being able to see our faces is helpful for our guests. It's not quite as muffled as a mask would be."
The Kamloops Earls is also the only location in the Okanagan selling the face shields to the public.
Rose said he has sold twenty shields to a local restaurant for their staff, and some to Earls customers.
The shields are produced in Surrey, and their accompanying Earls hats are locally made.
An Earls hat and shield is $25, or customers can buy each item individually for $15 each.
The Earls dining room and patio are now open for guests, and Rose stressed that there are new regulations and safety measures have been implemented to ensure customer safety.
