Dog owners now have a place for their pooches to play, courtesy of Trans Mountain.

Benches, fencing, and dog waste bag dispensers have been installed on the corner of Aviation Way and Tranquille Road, and there are a few items that will be finished as weather permits, including lighting and water fountains.

Final turf work will also come later this spring, a City of Kamloops release stated.

The City says the project was financed by Trans Mountain to help mitigate the impacts of the pipeline expansion project in Kamloops.

The Ord Road Dog Park will be closed as of March 23 as the Trans Mountain project gets underway.

Once the pipeline project is complete, the dog park will be restored and reopened to the public, and the new dog park on Aviation Way will also remain open.
