KAMLOOPS - Police in Kamloops are asking the public to avoid a stretch of Highway 1 as a commercial vehicle is blocking the road.

Kamloops RCMP Sgt. Brandon Buliziuk says in a news release that the eastbound lanes of Highway 1 near the Peterson Creek Bridge are blocked by a large commercial vehicle.

Buliziuk says traffic is extremely congested and police are asking the public to avoid the area or take alternate routes if possible.
