Kamloops couple Patrick and Jody Kidder were in disbelief when they won $500,000 on a Lotto Max ticket with the Extra in September.
Patrick had purchased the ticket from Happy Valley Foods on Barnhartvale Road for the Sept. 24 draw, according to a B.C. Lottery Corporation media release.
"He came home and told me we won $20 and a few free plays on one of our tickets and then continued with ‘and on this one, we won $500,000,’” Jody said in the release.
She went online to confirm the win because she didn’t believe him at first.
The winners plan to put their winnings towards a trip to Mexico in 2022 and also look forward to retiring early.
“This is shocking,” Patrick said in the release. “It will make travelling easier and the financial relief will also make retiring a little easier as well.”
