KAMLOOPS - Kamloops city councillors haven't completely thrown out the idea of banning single-use plastic, but they're close.
They were asked to consider a ban on single use plastic bags, straws, and plastic cutlery, however after much discussion today, April 2, they have cut that down to just bags.
Coun. Dale Bass' motion to draft a bylaw that would ban single-use plastics at Kamloops businesses cames just one week after Michele Hadley with Ban the Bag Kamloops made a delegation to city council calling for a ban.
They'll resume that conversation July 9 when staff have a motion to present with more complete information.
—This story was corrected at 7:18 p.m. on April 2, 2019. An earlier version incorrectly stated that the date of the meeting when the proposed bylaw will go before council.
