A Kamloops mother is sad and concerned after her daughter was bitten by a stranger while using the city bus service.

Julie Fowler said the attack on her daughter happened at the North Shore bus exchange at 11 p.m., Wednesday, June 22.

“My daughter stepped off the bus and a very young, drugged girl at the bus exchange attacked her,” she said. “”My daughter now has a huge bite mark on her back.”

Fowler said her 30-year-old daughter came home frazzled by the attack and the fact that no one at the bus exchanged bothered to help her.

“As usual, people just stood there watching instead of helping,” Fowler said. “Such a sad, useless society we have today. You have to have a defense in your hand.”

Fowler said they cleaned the wound and applied Polysporin, then her daughter went to get a tetanus shot.

“People aren’t safe using the bus or walking alone anymore no matter the time of day or the age,” she said. “These kinds of things are happening at all times.”

Fowler sent a report of the incident to the police.

She wants cameras put up at the North Shore bus exchange and the one on Lansdowne Street, downtown.

The B.C. RCMP could not be reached for comment Saturday, June 25. B.C. Transit could also not be reached for comment Saturday.
