Kamloops building permit numbers remain strong

KAMLOOPS - With another $13-million in building permits issued last month, 2015 remains well ahead of last year for building construction.

The 40 residential permits issued in April was the same this year as last, but at $9.94 million in 2015 the value was nearly 64 per cent higher than in 2014. A large portion of this increase came from multi-family units — building permits were issued for a total of 27 units this April, compared to just three last year.

The higher values in April have contributed to a steady year-to-date increase as well. So far this year residential permit values are at $35.5 million, compared to $26 million last year, and commercial permit values sit at $27.7 million, compared to $12.6 million in 2014.

In total 535 permits with a combined value of $65.6 million have been issued in 2015, compared to 395 permits valued at $41 million in 2014.
