John Mellencamp’s Sad Clowns & Hillbillies tour is making several stops in B.C. in November, including concerts in Kamloops and Kelowna.

The pop star and highly respected singer-songwriter’s music career has spanned over 35 years.

Known as John Cougar Mellencamp back in the 1980s, he had huge hits like Hurts So Good, Jack & Diane and Pink Houses. Mellencamp, Willie Nelson and Neil Young created Farm Aid in 1985 in an effort to address the struggle of American farm families. He has been nominated for 13 Grammy Awards and won one.

His most recent and 23rd album Sad Clowns & Hillbillies showcases a poet “who has wisely used the years between youth and the present day to become an absolute master of songwriting,” according to a Propera Place media release.

Mellencamp’s Canadian tour will start in Moncton, N.B. on Sept. 26 with stops at the Sandman Centre in Kamloops on Nov. 6 and Kelowna's Prospera Place on Nov. 10.

He also has B.C concert dates in Cranbrook on Nov. 7, Victoria on Nov. 12 and Abbotsford on Nov. 14.

Tickets go on sale Friday, June 1 at www.selectyourtickets.com. Ticket prices have not been released.
