It's going to feel like summer in Okanagan, Kamloops this weekend

Make plans to soak up some sun this weekend as Environment Canada calls for a warm and sunny weekend for Kamloops and the Okanagan.

Clearing skies and rising temperatures are setting the tone for the first taste of summer weather this year in Kamloops and the Okanagan, and it’s coming just in time for the weekend.

Environment Canada says the sunshine today, May 13, will extend into the weekend and will be accompanied by daily highs rising into the mid to upper 20s by Sunday, with no rain expected until Monday.

Kamloops’s skies are expected to clear with a high of 23 Celsius today, followed by a mix of sun and cloud Friday with a high of 26 C.

Saturday's weather in Kamloops will be similar, with a high of 26 C under mostly sunny skies. Beach weather is forecast for Sunday, with more sun and a high of 29 C expected.

Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton will see similar conditions over the next few days, with clearing skies and a high of 21 C today, and mostly sun and a high of 26 C expected Friday.

More sunshine and a high of 26 C is in the forecast for Saturday in the Okanagan, followed by a high of 29 C on Sunday, under mainly sunny skies. Things are looking a bit cooler and damper to start the work week, however, with a high if 20 and a chance of showers Monday.

Normal highs and lows for this time of year in Kamloops are 21 C and 7 C. Kelowna, Vernon and Penticton normally see a high of 19 C and a low of 6 C.
