The Westsyde Care Residences group home in Kamloops is experiencing a COVID-19 outbreak.

Nine residents and three staff members have tested positive, according to an Interior Health press release.

Individuals that are at-risk to contract the virus from those who were infected are now in self-isolation and monitoring for symptoms.

"IH communicable disease specialists and a clinical operations team will continue to monitor the situation. Additional infection control and preventive measures have been implemented and IH is providing other resources as required to stop the transmission of the virus," the Interior Health press release reads.

The group home is privately operated and is for people with brain and spinal cord injuries. They have 21 beds with several that are publicly funded for Interior Health clients.
