Innocent bystander injured at Williams Lake Stampede shooting

The Williams Lake Stampede was evacuated this afternoon after witnesses reported hearing gunshots.

An innocent bystander was injured yesterday, July 3, in the shooting that took place at the Williams Lake Stampede.

According to a Williams Lake RCMP media release, while police believe the shooting was targeted, an innocent bystander was injured.

Two individuals were injured during the shooting, which took place just after 3:30 p.m. July 3, inside the stampede grounds.

They were taken to hospital and police say both are expected to survive.

Police released information yesterday, July 3, saying one person was in custody.

Williams Lake RCMP says the investigation is ongoing and wants to speak to members of the public that may have dash cam or other video and have not yet spoken to police. Anyone with any information is urged to call Williams Lake RCMP at 250-392-6211.
