A 32-year-old Oliver man has been charged with two sex-related offences following what police believe to be an isolated incident at an Oliver park in August.

Oliver RCMP responded to a complaint by a young person at Lions Park in Oliver on Aug. 21 after a man, who appeared intoxicated, exposed his genitals to the young person and some friends, according to a media release.

A description of the man was provided and officers located the man nearby, arresting him for public intoxication and performing an indecent act.

RCMP say Dexter Makortoff of Oliver has been charged with one count each of exposing genitals to a person under 16 and committing an indecent act in a public place.

“The Oliver RCMP commend the young person for immediately reporting the incident to police and providing a good description of the man. This allowed for a very quick arrest of what appears to be an isolated incident,” Oliver RCMP Sgt. Jason Bayda said in the release.
