Incident involving knife wielding man ends peacefully in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS - A crisis negotiator was brought in to speak to a knife wielding Kamloops man yesterday.

Around 4 p.m. yesterday, April 29, police received reports of an emotionally distraught man with a knife near the intersection of Frontage Road and Valleyview Drive, according to an RCMP press release. The 42-year-old man threatened himself and police.

Police closed the area to the public while the incident was ongoing and a crisis negotiator was called in.

Things ended peacefully as the man was taken into custody. He was taken to Royal Inland Hospital for assessment and treatment.
