SALMON ARM – A Salmon Arm man and his passenger were injured early Sunday morning when he lost control of his truck, drove through an intersection and collided with an embankment on the side of the highway.

Salmon Arm RCMP Staff Sgt. Scott West says in a media release police came across the single vehicle accident Oct. 29 shortly before 4 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 97B and the Trans-Canada Highway.

West says a truck being driven by a 29-year-old man from Salmon Arm failed to stop or turn at the Trans-Canada intersection and drove through the intersection “at highway speed.”

“The vehicle then collided with the embankment on the north side of the Trans-Canada Highway,” he says.

The vehicle was heavily damaged and both the driver and passenger were taken to the hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

“It is believed driver inattention played a factor in the crash,” West says.
