iN VIDEO: Vernon poets present homelessness in a new light

John La Greca reads from his newly-published book, "Homeless Memorial" on Jul. 27, 2018 in Vernon.

KELOWNA - Here's your chance to see the literary stylings of two Vernon poets who write about homelessness.

John La Greca and Harold Rhenisch headline an event at Metro Central Cafe in Kelowna tomorrow, Nov. 2.

"Rather than presenting a story of homelessness, they are presenting a story of just how at home people are outside of middle-class culture, and what that looks like. John will show you the streets of the city and its citizens. Harold will show you a world outside ideas of city and country," the Facebook event page says.

John La Greca's just released book of poetry Homeless Memorial will be available for a special event price.

Rhenisch is a poet, writer and editor raised and trained by the syilx mountains, grasslands and water of the Lower Similkameen Valley. He lives on the Fairview Basement Rocks in Priest Valley, where he writes and edits poetry and non-fiction and writes an online blog.

He has published 30 books, edited 100 others and reviews books of Interior B.C. history for The Ormsby Review.

The event is hosted by Metro Community at Metro Central Cafe and you can go to the Facebook page here to learn more.

Metro Central Cafe is a new venue in Kelowna where the vulnerable and homeless are cared for every weekday.
