A Vernon driver narrowly missed a head-on collision with a pickup truck last night when it swerved across a four-lane highway.
The terrifying incident was captured on video by Leia Morris's dash cam last night, Dec. 9. The truck crossed Highway 6 heading straight for her, passing on her left side at the last second.
"Thinking back I’m not sure how I stayed so calm," Morris said. "I think I was in shock and it took me a while to process."
She was driving on Highway 6 towards Vernon, and the near-miss occurred shortly before the Middleton Way intersection.
Morris's concern is that the driver has a medical condition that caused them to cross the highway in front of her, or a tendency for bad driving that could hurt others.
She feels lucky things happened the way they did.
"I’m on maternity leave and I was heading to town for formula, I’m so grateful my son was at home with my husband," she said. "Boy did I hug them. If I hadn’t changed lanes when I did, I can’t imagine what the outcome would be."
