Hundreds of Revelstoke residents gathered and chaos ensued at this weekend’s outhouse races.
Teams from around the community assembled outhouses with skis on the bottom to see who was the fastest at the Revelstoke Winter Carnival at Centennial Park on Saturday.
Matt Stepchuk attended the event and recorded some of the best moments.
“I’ve never borne witness to such a committed community when it comes to organizing any event,” Stepchuk said. “I don’t know what it is (about Revelstoke) but everyone was just so gung ho about the whole thing it was amazing.”
The winter carnival was packed with events from outhouse races to broom ball, scavengers hunts and more.
This isn’t the first outhouse race in North Okanagan this winter, in January Lumby had a race of its own.

For those who didn’t get a chance to race a porta potty this year, there is plenty of time to assemble a racing toilet for next year.
“The community just rolls up their sleeves and whether it’s big or small they come out. It’s their spirit that is just the most incredible thing,” Stepchuk said.
