Aircraft are hitting a wildfire this afternoon in the hills near Naramata.

BC Wildfire Service discovered the fire around 3:18 p.m. today, July 21, which is highly visible from South Okanagan communities.

It's 1.5 hectares in size and measured at just a kilometre from the nearest road, Workman Place, according to the wildfire service.

An initial attack crew was arriving on the scene around 4 p.m., with air tankers and a helicopter on the scene, fire information officer Melanie Bibeau said.

Bibeau couldn't say just how close the blaze is to any nearby homes and structures.
