iN VIDEO: Lansdowne parkade mural takes shape in downtown Kamloops

The mosaic mural art piece on the exterior of the Lansdowne Parkade in downtown Kamloops is expected to be complete by this summer. Workers are seen installing the pieces of the mural on Monday May 27, 2019.

KAMLOOPS — The exterior of a downtown Kamloops parkade will be the city's newest piece of public art this summer.

The Lansdowne Parkade located at 335 Lansdowne St. is on it's way to transforming from a traditional parkade to a becoming a public art piece.

The City of Kamloops has commissioned local artist Bill Frymire to create the large scale mesh image that wraps around the exterior of the parkade.

The mosaic mural is part of the larger Lansdowne Street project which includes new asphalt, traffic-calming curb extensions and sidewalk improvements between 3 and 4 Avenue.

Construction in the area began in April 2018 and is expected to be complete by this summer.
