A little pup named Timbit went wakesurfing for the first time on the Okanagan’s Wood Lake over the weekend, decked out in a tiny orange lifejacket.

The adventurous wiener dog typically stays on the boat watching everyone else having fun, but on July 13, he was allowed to have a turn too.

“Timbit can swim and has been on paddleboards before, but this was the first time he went wakesurfing,” said Solange Sookram, whose son owns the dog.

The best wakesurfer in the family, Nolan Dewit, put the wee fellow on the board for a short, splash-filled ride while Sookram captured footage of it.

Timbit is a dachshund who is less than a year old, and Sookram said the little guy is really active and smart. He learned to press buttons to tell them he wants food or that he needs to go outside.

“Even as a puppy, he understood the buttons right away,” she said. “Once he presses one, he runs out to make sure you’ve heard it and if you ignore him, he’ll go back in and press it over and over again until you acknowledge him, it's really cute."

The family lives in Lake Country and enjoys playing on the water in the warmer months, and Timbit might just go wakesurfing again.

“Timbit was excited, he likes to be part of things and we’ll see if he wants to try it again,” Sookram said. “I’ve seen a lot of skateboarding dogs before but not any wakesurfing ones.”
