KELOWNA - Usually when you're steering a boat, the goal is to keep it on the water, but sometimes things can go horribly wrong.
Such was the case yesterday, May 12, on Okanagan Lake in Kelowna. The Black Tige RZ2 crashed at around 3:30 a.m. into the boom at the Kelowna Yacht Club, sending its nose pointing skyward.
Videos and photos of the nautical mishap quickly went viral on social media.
In a video posted to Facebook, the narrator comments that who was ever behind the wheel of the boat "missed it by that much."
Kelowna RCMP say in a media release a search by emergency crews arrived to find the boat empty, with no one in the water. Police tracked down the owner of the boat and confirmed the operator and passanger weren't injured.
A crane was used to lift and dislodge the boat from the log boom, RCMP say.
