A Kamloops theatre company is using Facebook live now that its audience can't come to them.

Western Canada Theatre posted a live-stream performance of the musical Chelsea Hotel: The Songs of Leonard Cohen last night, March 27.

The live-in-person performance was cancelled at the Sagebrush Theatre due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions banning meet-ups and events of more than 50 people.

Musicians can be seen in the video performing on separate balconies at Riverside Inn in Kamloops.

Many thanks to the artists Steve Charles, Charlie Gallant, Marlene Ginader, Adrian Glynn McMorran and Tracey Power for generously requesting that any donations made through this event go to Western Canada Theatre,” according to Western Canada Theatre in the Facebook post.

The performance on Facebook grabbed upward of 19,000 views.

To make a donation to the theatre go here.

Musicians around the world have begun to steam their performances online, as COVID-19 keeps people indoors.

Last weekend, a West Kelowna woman gave her neighbours a free performance from her balcony.
