High school graduates from the class of 2020 in the Central Okanagan want your help to celebrate this year.

As in-person graduation ceremonies have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, graduates are counting on their neighbours from across the region to cheer them on as they celebrate the last day of Grade 12, according to Central Okanagan school district news release.

"Staff and grad councils did an amazing job putting together alternate graduation ceremonies for us, but it will also be really special if grads can still toss their caps to the sound of cheers from the community," co-president of the district student council James Ropotar said in the release.

"We hope everyone will cheer, bang their pots and pans, and let grads know the community supports them."

On June 26 at 6 p.m., the 2020 Class asks that you go outside, turn up your radio. The school district has asked local radio stations to play "I Lived" by One Republic.

Virtual graduation ceremonies will be available online on the Central Okanagan school district YouTube channel here.
