Vernon needs housing but car-centric strip mall gets city council support
Can they not look into a strip mall with apartments above the lower-level mall? Would that not help? — Lisa Haring
Kamloops airport goes after cafe owner for $167K in unpaid rent
Another unfortunate sign of the times. There are some major problems just under the surface throughout the Canadian business scene. — Marshall Krueger
BC United sources leak 'extremism' file on BC Conservatives' executive Isidorou
Interesting corollary in politics that we bring up so much from the past as if we never learn from our experiences. There is an old saying that if you aren't a Liberal at 20 you have no heart and if you aren't a Conservative by 40 you have no brains. This young man seems at least to be learning from his "misspent youth". — Brian Porter, Kelowna
'I think it's wrong:' Vernon adds another fee to developers building much-needed housing
Thanks for the excellent reporting. As a Vernon resident of many years, I'm appalled that the city decided to take another chunk of change from the developer. It's not much, but it's like our taxes, a little bit here and there, and it does send the wrong message. — Michael and Jodi White
Smells like 'something has died': Rodent infestations in cars way up in Okanagan
Honk your horn before you start your truck! Just had a new radiator and fan put in our Ford 350. Huge marmot, lots of damage. — Bonnie Derry
Kelowna airport spending $422M to catch up and keep up with air travel demand
Airline travel has become the most disgusting mode of travel. From the over crowded waiting areas to the overcrowded airplanes it is one disease ridden petri dish after another. Then there’s the total disrespect that passengers are subjected to. It’s a mode of travel that I’d rather avoid. — AJ Plourde
Temporary foreign worker sues for 'fraudulent' Kelowna job offer
He sure picked the right lawyer to represent him. — Jack Pearl
Build Kamloops counter petition campaigners break their silence
Just say no. We already voted no. It's city staff's agenda, remember that next time you vote. — John Louvroa
iN RESPONSE
Dear Editor,
Politics in B.C. have always been unusual in my memory whether it was Bill Bennett Junior and his Expo '86, which I took part in, or the Zalms with the headband wearing Lillian, or the two opposing Clarks, or the scandalous mayor who became a scandalous premier then got rewarded for his scandals, Campbell and the travesty of the Green-NDP alliance or the BC United fraud party and now the implosion of the electoral choices we don't want anyway.
Sincerely,
Patrick Longworth
