PENTICTON - Everywhere you looked in downtown Penticton yesterday was a sea of red and white as thousands took advantage of the most summery day of the long weekend to enjoy Canada Day and other festivities in Penticton.
Most of the July 1 action was within easy walking distance of each other, with the final day of Penticton’s Rotary Ribfest only a block away from the Canada Day celebrations at Gyro Park.
Those interested in taking in some sun had a similar distance to walk to get to Okanagan Beach, which was also busy yesterday.

The crowds were deep in Gyro Park as residents gathered with lawn chairs to take in the various activities and entertainment scheduled for the morning and afternoon in the park.
The Penticton Concert Band provided entertainment over the noon hour while Canada Day cake was served in Gyro Park on July 1, 2019.

A number of children’s inflatables attracted lengthy lineups, as did other children’s venues in the park which included face painting, a petting zoo, mini-golf and a vendor’s market.
Line ups were steady for Gyro Park vendors and the numerous children's activities set up around the park.
