An extra $300 has been squeezed out of a Penticton businessman who wanted to encourage little lemonade entrepreneurs.

Early in the summertime, Warren Lee of Warren Lee Contracting and his wife Beverley Lee rounded up a $500 prize pool for the best lemonade stand in Penticton. But every entry was adorable, so rather than choosing a single winner to claim the entire prize pool, it was decided that all 14 entries should win $50 each. Two of the entries were chosen at random to win an additional $50 each. So a total of $800 was awarded.

Warren thought up the idea after being able to quench his thirst on a hot, sunny day – all thanks to a hardworking youngster who decided to set up a lemonade stand that day. So he wanted to make it a more rewarding endeavour for every enterprising kid.

In addition to the Lees, the prize money was donated by Mike Thom, Dean Garnett, Curtis Tuchalt, Phil Bedard, Debra Formo, S+S Hardwood, Ritch Hobden, Rocky Buksa and Jason Reynen.

iNFOnews.ca helped distribute the money to the winners on behalf of the donors.
