The diversity of the landscapes in the Okanagan — mountains, forests and deserts — means landscape artists are never bored as they capture the beauty.
Kelowna painter Rod Charlesworth captures the picturesque Okanagan in a Canadian impressionist style.
“I think here in the Okanagan, we're pretty spoiled with all the beauty and brightness,” Charlesworth told iNFOnews.ca.
“In a half hour or 50 minutes from where anybody lives, you can be up in mountainous wooded forest and then you come down to the valley floor and it's all desert. The landscape just changes and I guess that's the nice thing about living in a valley.”

Charlesworth said he never runs out of landscapes to paint even after living in the valley for most of his life.
“If you're involved in making images of something of where you live, and the landscape around you, you can't turn your eyes off, so you're always digging for one thing and you're always looking for new things.”
Charlesworth said as an artist, appreciation for the environment comes with love and familiarity for your home, and with appreciation comes wondrous paintings to show adoration and beauty of the surrounding landscape.
“I think you have to live there to really absorb it all, and that's what happened to me here, living here for that long. It just sort of seeps into your skin.”
Charlesworth sells his work at the Hambleton Galleries in Kelowna.
